Accompanist – Laura Deenik

Laura graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama with a 2:1 BMus(Hons) Degree in 2007. During her time at the conservatoire, she studied under the expert tutelage of Richard McMahon, Michael Young, and Mei Yi Foo, as well as receiving specialist input from pianist and composer Timothy Bowers at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Laura engaged heavily in opportunities to perform at the RWCMD, and notably performed in Masterclasses with many acclaimed concert pianists including Bernard Roberts, Philip Martin and Vanessa Latarche. A personal highlight was competing in the Concerto Trials Semi- Finals.

Laura achieved her associate level diplomas (DipABRSM) in performance and teaching disciplines whilst undertaking her degree studies, and attained her Licentiate (LRSM) Piano Performance Diploma in 2011, a year after graduating from RWCMD with her MA in Music Therapy.

Since 2006, Laura has enjoyed long and fulfilling roles as accompanist to many choirs and performance organisations across South Wales, and has had the privilege of working with many solo artistes, including Helen-Jane Howells (Soprano), Jennifer Walker (Soprano), Jonathan Pippen (Trombone), Llio Evans (Soprano), Meilir Jones (Baritone), Richard Lee Thomas (Tenor), Rhodri Prys Jones (Tenor), Ros Evans (Soprano), Sir Willard White (Bass Baritone), and Tristan Llyr Griffiths (Tenor).

aura is currently studying for her Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Piano Studies (Accompaniment & Repetiteur) at Wales International Academy of Voice (WIAV), an innovative and bespoke training academy founded by world-renowned tenor, Dennis O’Neill. Alongside this, Laura has recently taken up a position as accompanist for Ballet classes following recommendation by the Royal Academy of Dance, and has accepted an invitation for private solo piano engagements in collaboration with Hannah Mitchell (
